Asian Handicap Betting Strategy

Asian Handicap Betting Strategy

Mainstream betting markets like 1x2 betting hold a special place in all of our hearts. However, at times, the wagers are not as profitable as some of us wish they could be. More often than not, the favorites to win and the underdogs are as clear as day. This impacts the odds and, consequently - your profits. If you're looking to move on to more lucrative markets that pose more of a challenge, then Asian handicap betting would be perfect for you.

Asian handicap betting

As a punter, you may think that obvious, one-sided matches are great, but being able to predict the outcome of a game with ease comes with its pitfalls. If you know for sure that one of the teams is superior, so does everyone else. This would impact the way odds are calculated. The favorite to win will have extremely low odds, which would result in a low-profit margin. Should you bet on the superior team and barely break even, or should you risk it all and bet on the underdog?

With Asian handicap betting, you wouldn't have to worry about any of this. This market evens out the playing field by "handicapping" the superior team and giving the underdog a head start. In Asian handicap, the favorite would have to not only win the match but win by a certain number of goals.

Let's say 2, for example, for your bet to be successful. If they do not score two goals more than the underdog, the underdog is considered the winner.

Asian Handicap Strategies

Here are some Asian Handicap betting strategies you could use to increase your profits.

1. Look for evenly matched games

One strategy you could use is to look for those games where both teams are evenly matched, with the hope that it could end in a draw. Unlike European Handicap betting, Asian handicaps don't have a draw option. If the match ends in a draw, your money is refunded. Bet on the side you think has the better odds or a slightly higher chance of winning, and chances are you would either win the bet or get a full refund. Draws can be used as something to fall back on, a safety net.

2. Give in-play betting a shot

In-play betting gives you the chance to fully gain an insight into the forms of both the participating teams' form before you place any bets. For instance, let's say that the underdog scores early on in the game; this would dramatically change the in-play odds. The underdog's odds would shorten, while the favorite's odds would drift. But it doesn't mean that the favorites still can't come out on top. With live betting, it's all about betting at the right time.

3. Try other markets

Asian handicap betting isn't specific to the "win/lose market." You could bet on a corner, totals, or and a bunch of other markets as well. Betting on corners can be a good option, as one can predict this based on how the team usually performs, and betting on totals during the second half can be profitable as well.
